2009 Vacation Bible School

The 2009 VBS team, including team members from the US and Haiti, presented Vacation Bible School both in the Blanchard community of Port-au-Prince, and in the Fondwa mountains, FHM's partner communities.

      

Traveling to Haiti is hard work for the US members of the team. Here's a journal entry from one of our travelers at the beginning of her trip:

July 18, 2009
"...I'm still not so sure how we'll fill three full hours a day with 200 little ones that don't speak our language but praise God, my Savior is the Master of all tongues and we will be speaking words that all can know - the mighty love of Christ.  Lord, I pray you have prepared the little ones and their hearts to receive love and instruction from this hapless, small teacher.  But even more so that You've prepared my heart for the words You will speak to me through them."

By the end of the trip, this same mission team member had a different story to tell:

July 26, 2009
"You know, I never understood what a 'calling' was until I visited Haiti.  God has taught me on my visits to this country that I have a calling to these people.  It may not mean being on the ground here every year but it will always mean that I am praying, contributing and in some way building Christian-based relationships with Haitians until God tells me to use my energies elsewhere."
