22 Feb - Update on Se. Carmelle

|
Se Carmelle was moved out of isolation and into a larger room this week. She remains on oxygen, but is resting comfortably with good pain management.
Jamalyn Williamson (FHM Fondwa Project Manager) had a nice visit with Carmelle on Monday. Jamalyn and Dave lived in Fondwa for two years and remain very close to the Sisters and the community.
Father Joseph and Sister Simone arrive in Kansas today.
Jamalyn says that Se Carmelle is in wonderful hands. The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth are providing wonderful love and support to Carmelle.
Sister Claudette remains at Carmelle’s bedside and is holding up well considering the circumstances.
Many of you have asked for Carmelle’s address.
Please continue to pray for Se Carmelle and the other sisters as well as all involved in her care.

With sadness, we share this email from Sister Ann in Kansas, sent Saturday, Feb 25. -
Dear all,
We learned yesteday after our doctor's conference that S. Carmelle's condition is critical. They have found that Sister's condition is beyond treatment and healing.
She will soon be moved from ICU to another room where she will be given all means to keep her comfortable.
Father Joseph and Sister Simone will be here as soon as possible.
Our prayers are with Carmelle, her beloved community and each of her dear friends in Haiti, the US and beyond.

Update on Se. Carmelle

Wednesday, 15 February
Please keep Sister Carmelle in your prayers.
Sr. Carmelle has been pivotal in providing healthcare and leadership to the Fondwa Community for many years.
Family Health Ministries received news today that Sr. Carmelle is in the ICU at a hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas, being treated for pneumonia. She has been ill since November and was recently diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer).
She is receiving excellent care and is surrounded by many friends including Sr. Claudette and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth.
Please pray for Sr. Carmelle’s comfort as the doctors work to manage her pain and decide on a plan to address her health needs.
We know many of you care and love Carmelle. Our heart goes out to her and her extended family in time of much needed prayer. We will try to post updates here as we receive information.
Many Blessings,
Kathy |
